Double Entendre

La Madrugada translates to "the sunrise" in English. The infinitive madrugar means "to get up very early." Los madrugadores means "early risers," but the word also has a double meaning. El madrugador can also signify someone who is out ahead of the pack or a person who has a head start on the rest. I thought Los Madrugadores would be an appropriate title for our blog not only because la madrugada is a classically beautiful image, but also because of the word's forward-thinking connotation.
There are so many opportunities in this city, in school, and on the internet "to sieze the day" in terms of learning Spanish. Hopefully this blog will be a valuable resource for you. It is only an experiment and like many experiments it may fail or fade away, but it is important to try a variety of approaches to language learning.
Please feel free to post comments after each entry. I will check the blog daily and give participation credit to those students who post comments (preferably in Spanish) or post items of interest for the whole group. Blog entries will be written in both Spanish and English depending on the context and purpose.
